Failte! Starting a new business can be a daunting task. Once you've decided on what you want to do, there are so many things required to put it into a business plan. Difficult as it is, without this blueprint to work from, it is easy to deviate from what is important. That is, the business plan keeps you in check, it tells you where and on what you are going to spend your money, how you are going to create your product, what prices you need to charge to make a profit and how low you can sell at to break even.
In Ireland, there is help available. The Enterprise boards in each county provide an excellent mentoring service. They have a start your own business course which brings you through all the necessary requirements for a business start-up here. The course is free of charge. They may offer funding upon consideration of a submitted business plan.
There are several types of funding available: Feasability study, capital grants and employee grants. Do contact them and see.
Celtic Currents is in the start up stage. We are going to be printing Tee shirts, greeting cards, posters, large format fine art prints and photographs with Irish images. We have submitted our plan and are awaiting word back from them. Fingers crossed. Website coming soon!
